Epidemiology and Public Health

Fellows trained in our Division are prepared to conduct research in molecular mechanisms of cellular and organism responses to environmental toxicants, hormones, and industrial chemicals. They learn to appreciate and explore the role of environment-gene interactions in responses of developing and adult organisms to toxicants. Training offered in our Division is also highly translational as research in the various laboratories naturally flows from the identification of a novel molecular target for a specific toxicant into a clinically useful therapeutic intervention.

Pre- and postdoctoral fellowships are supported from mentor grants or NIH-funded training grants. Pre-doctoral fellows may also receive financial support from University of Maryland, Baltimore sources. Support from NIH-funded training grants is available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The University of Maryland Baltimore is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
