About

The University of Maryland – Medicine Institute for Neuroscience Discovery (UM-MIND) is a multidisciplinary, multi-departmental neuroscience research institute at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) in Baltimore, Maryland.

We provide a cohesive structure uniting the strong community of esteemed neuroscientists at UMSOM, who span many departments, institutes, centers, and programs and represent over $100 million in research funding dedicated to studies of the brain on our campus. All neuroscientists on campus are “part” of UM-MIND and thus welcomed to join in for all events and benefit from all the resources we provide. Through a dedicated focus on our three pillars – Neurodevelopment & Neuropsychiatric Disorders, Neurotrauma & Brain Injury, and Aging & Neurodegeneration – UM-MIND will work to facilitate interaction between basic and clinical scientists and accelerate the discovery and translation of novel therapies for brain disorders.

Learn more about our institute by reading the Director’s Message penned by UM-MIND Director Dr. Margaret McCarthy, looking through our upcoming Seminars and Events, perusing the available Resources for researchers, or browsing our News.
