Mentoring with RAMP
RAMP has a number of opportunities for undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs, and faculty to get involved with program.
Undergraduates
Who can participate?
RAMP is looking for current students or recent graduates of undergraduate and graduate STEM programs in Maryland! Participants must be 18 years old by the start of the program to participate.
When is the program?
Near-peer mentors will join the program on UMB's campus each summer to work with RAMP scholars in their first summer of the program. Near-peer mentors will need to be available for orientation and training in June.
What will we do during the program?
RAMP will have many components focused around research and laboratory training and developing professional skills. The role of near-peer mentors is to help prepare scholars for internships in labs the following summer. Near-peer mentors will do this by teaching lessons on basic lab and research skills, guiding students during their research projects, and providing general advice on academics and career paths.
What are you researching?
We are conducting research to find out the impact of the training and program participation on near-peer mentors before and after participating in the program. This will be done using surveys and interviews. You do not have to participate in the research to join UMB RAMP as a near-peer mentor.
If you're interested participating or would like to learn more, please fill out the form below!
You will be contacted by the study's Research Coordinator, Anna Pudder. You may also email Anna at apudder@som.umaryland.edu.
