Vacation
Residents receive 15 paid vacation days plus a number of federal holidays off. One additional week of holiday time is granted over the week of Christmas or New Year's. Approved conference days do not count towards your 15 annual vacation days.

Program Benefits
Benefits of residency in the Department of Radiation Oncology include:
- Book funds and sponsorship of continuing education (CE) credits
- Funded registration, travel and support to attend/ present at annual meetings such as ASTRO, ASCO, ARS, ABS, RSS, SNO, or PTCOG
- The Department of Radiation Oncology hosts an annual fully catered holiday party for all employees plus a guest (age 21+), a summer picnic for immediate families/ a guest, and at least four departmental happy hours each year. Additionally, the residents enjoy other department-sponsored social events throughout the year such as the annual resident graduation dinner, Friendsgiving, a summer BBQ, life-event celebrations for new babies and weddings, and plenty of resident happy hours.

- The residency wellness fund: $5,000 annually can be used between all of the residents for various activities such as teambuilding, dinners, snacks for the resident workroom, physical activities, and more. On-Campus Resources
The University of Maryland Health Sciences and Human Services Library (UMHSHSL) is available for resident use. There is also a resident library that maintains an extensive collection of journals and books.
Application Process & Interviews
Applying for Residency
All applicants must be graduates of an approved medical school and have satisfactorily completed one year of approved post-graduate training (PGY-1), prior to entering clinical training in radiation oncology. We accept all applications through ERAS. All positions are only offered through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
Interview Information
All interviews are by invitation only and are typically held in November and December. The interviews will be virtual. Interviews last for one day and include an optional invitation to a virtual dinner on the evening prior with the current residents.

Prerequisites
You must complete one year of approved post-graduate training (PGY-1) prior to entering clinical training in Radiation Oncology. The first year of postgraduate clinical training must be spent in internal medicine, family, medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery or surgical specialties, pediatrics, or a transitional year program.

Osteopathic Medical Students
If you are an Osteopathic Medical Student, we require USMLE Step 1 results to be considered for an interview. USMLE Step 2 results should be submitted if available.
