Kai completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in Information Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Later, he pursued his doctoral degree in the Biomedical Engineering Medical Physics Track at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. During his PhD, his research focused on medical image analysis, medical image reconstruction, and radiotherapy outcome prediction.
Why University of Maryland? Kai feels that the radiation oncology department and residency program hold a good reputation within the field. During his interview, Kai was captivated by the welcoming and positive atmosphere that permeated the department. The interactions with the physics team showcased a strong sense of camaraderie and collaboration, which he believes are essential for a fulfilling and successful residency experience.
Yufeng Cao, PhD

Yufeng is originally from northern China. His training spans a diverse array of topics, including mathematics and medical physics. In his spare time, Yufeng loves all sports, and is able to learn and enjoy them very quickly.
Why University of Maryland? Prior to residency, Yufeng was a post-doctoral fellow in the University of Maryland Department of Radiation Oncology. He earned his medical physics certification at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, where he had the opportunity to become familiar with the exceptional team here. He is truly impressed by the team's excellence and the positive atmosphere, and looks forward to providing valuable contributions. Yufeng anticipates deepening his understanding of physics, and also developing a strong foundation for solving complex problems and contributing meaningfully to the field. He is excited about the challenges ahead, and feels motivated to push himself to new heights of understanding and achievement.
