Mission
The Faculty Recruitment and Retention Subcommittee works to research the needs of current and prospective faculty members to optimize our retention and recruitment efforts – and increase the diversity of our faculty workforce.
Highlights
This past year in 2021, we achieved the following:
Developed a Departmental guideline for best practices for recruitment
This includes querying applicants about their experiences with and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.
Established plans to form a faculty advisory committee
This committee will comprise of faculty across the Department at every career stage. The subcommittee will advise the Diversity Committee about novel and innovative processes to improve retention and will meet quarterly.
Goals
For 2022, we will develop a standardized process for offboarding faculty to gather more comprehensive information about when – and why – faculty chose to leave our Department. From there, we will work to address any concerns and continue to build upon our strengths.
