The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) Midtown Campus Inpatient Psychiatry Unit is a brand new 24,000 square-foot adult inpatient behavioral health unit. Our world-class team of experts are rooted in the heart of Baltimore City, where we tirelessly work to improve the lives of our most vulnerable community members every day.
Mission
To treat people of all ages with mental or behavioral health needs with specialized inpatient and outpatient services, including:
- Psychiatric, medical, functional skill, and psychosocial assessments
- Personalized treatment planning
- Individual, group, and family therapy to help patients build memory, attention, and coping skills
- Therapy sessions
- Substance use and addiction management

Midtown Campus Inpatient Psychiatry Unit
Our newly constructed unit features 37 private rooms with hand-painted murals that were commissioned through a partnership with The Baltimore Office of Promotion and Arts and local artists with experience in behavioral health. Each room reflects a calm, safe space, while also embodying the diversity and character of our surrounding community.
