The National Center for School Mental Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking students to become involved with research and policy-oriented projects relating to its mission of promoting school mental health.
Opportunities exist for students to learn quantitative/qualitative data collection and data management skills, including tracking survey completion, working with online data collection interfaces, conducting basic analyses, and reporting results for program evaluations.
In addition, externs help support high-quality resource development for websites, presentations, and publications. Literature searches and development of writing skills will also be advanced as part of the experience. Topics of current projects are centered on improving behavioral health services for children and young adults, particularly through the integration of these services into schools and the community.
