Biosketch

Mercedes Torres, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, and has served as the Assistant Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mercy Medical Center since 2009.  Dr. Torres earned her undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology from Princeton University in 1998.  She received her MD from the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine in 2004.  She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland in 2007 and has been a faculty member of the University of Maryland, School of Medicine and attending physician at Mercy Medical Center since that time.  Her academic interests include infectious diseases, ED administration and social outreach to underserved communities.
