Dr. Talaat is dual board-certified in Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and Internal Medicine. She practiced internal medicine in rural Minnesota and in Washington DC for several years prior to completing her fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine and joining the University of Maryland in her current role.

Dr. Talaat is an active member of the Palliative Care consultation team. She is passionate about the medical education of future generations of clinicians and researchers. She has a special interest in palliative symptom management, complex co-ordination of care, and facilitating access to palliative care services for patients with serious and advanced illnesses.
