Biosketch
Angela Smedley, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her residency at University of Maryland Medical Center. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine. After working clinically at GBMC for seven years, Dr. Smedley returned to the the teaching environment, taking a position at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as an assistant professor and attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine. She has worked full time nights in the Emergency Department since her return in 2006, and has been teaching ICM at the school of medicine since 2012. In July of 2016 she accepted a position as Assistant Medical Director of the Adult Emergency Department, and has particularly focused on the QA, patient safety and process improvement aspects of that position. She has a strong interest in direct bedside teaching of residents and students, with emphasis on patient centered and compassionate care. She has been involved in mentoring residents and is a member of the clinical competency committee focusing on ensuring consistency and excellence in the training process.
