Education and Training

Saleha Munir, O.D., F.A.A.O,  joined the University of Maryland in September 2014, as a part-time Faculty and Clinical Instructor in Optometry. She received her B.S. in Science of Optometry and Doctor of Optometry diplomas as a Presidential Scholar, from the New England College of Optometry in 2012. Initially, Dr. Munir worked in a commercial practice at Pearle Vision, in Boston, Massachusetts. Then, she went on to receive advanced competency in primary and secondary eye care through the residency training program in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System at Brockton and Worcester, MA, in 2013-2014.

Research Interests

Dr. Munir's research interests include ocular graft versus host disease, glaucoma management, use of ocular coherence tomography (OCT) in the assessment of ocular diseases including glaucoma and retinal pathology.

Clinical Specialty Details

Dr. Munir specializes in comprehensive and medical optometry, and performs routine soft contact lens fittings, comprehensive diabetic eye exams, screenings for glaucoma and other eye diseases, and annual eye exams. Dr. Munir currently provides compassionate eye care at our Redwood office in downtown Baltimore, and our Waterloo office in Columbia.

Dr. Munir is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).  Dr. Munir is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry and American Optometric Association.
