Biosketch

Sandra Marshall, MD, was selected at the Chief of Staff for the VA Maryland Health Care System on March 11, 2016.  Prior to her selection, Dr. Marshall had been serving as the Acting Chief of Staff since January 5, 2015.  Prior to this, Dr. Marshall served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Perry Point VA Medical Center, a division of the VA Maryland Health Care System.

As the Chief of Staff, Dr. Marshall is responsible for the provision, coordination and supervision of all clinical services at the Baltimore and Perry Point VA Medical Centers, the Loch Raven VA Community Living & Rehabilitation Center and six community based outpatient clinics located throughout the state.  Dr. Marshall serves as an integral member of the leadership team for the VA Maryland Health Care System in coordinating the delivery of safe, quality and compassionate care to more than 55,000 Veterans.

Prior to her appointment as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Perry Point VA Medical Center, Dr. Marshall served as the Director of the Managed Care Clinical Center for the VA Maryland Health Care System with oversight of the Primary Care, Women’s Health, Dermatology, Audiology and Speech, and Occupational Health Programs.  Since joining the VA in 1988, Dr. Marshall has provided primary care services to hundreds of Veteran patients at the Baltimore VA Medical Center and was instrumental in the implementation of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model throughout the VA Maryland Health Care System.  In her role as a University of Maryland Medical System faculty member, Dr. Marshall has been involved in the education and training of many medical students, interns, allied health professionals and residents.

Dr. Marshall received her Medical Degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she graduated cum laude, and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore VA Medical Center.  After completing her residency, she served as the Chief Resident for Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore VA Medical Center.  Dr. Marshall is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
