Biosketch
Dr. Malinow has practiced obstetric anesthesiology since 1984. From 1985-2015, he was the Chief of the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia at UMMC. Dr. Malinow has trained a generation of residents and fellows in the practice of obstetric anesthesiology. Many of his trainees still practice and care for the pregnant women and their newborns in the State of Maryland, others have moved on to leadership positions in the field.
Caring for so many of the critically-ill pregnancies that have been transported to UMMC, Dr. Malinow has maintained a career-long interest in the mechanisms and treatment of the diseases of pregnancy. Currently, Dr. Malinow is investigating the field of mitochondrial bioenergetics as applied to normal and abnormal pregnancy.
