Education and Training

Born and raised in Decatur, Indiana. B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology, Purdue University, Fort Wayne, IN (1972 and 1976, respectively). Ph.D. studies in Physiology, under the direction of Dr. William Hansel, at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY (1976-80). Postdoctoral training in the Depts. of Biochemistry and Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, FL (1979-83). Assistant Professor, Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology (1984-87). Moved to the Dept. of Physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1987.
