Biosketch

As an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics, Dr. Koh is a practicing spine surgeon at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, University of Maryland Medical Center, and Beltimore VA Medical Center. Under the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program, he recieved a dual PhD-MD degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School. His clinical expertise includes treatment of disorders of the cervical spine and lumbar spine, minimally invasive spinal techniques, and reconstruction of the traumatically injured spine. He currently is a co-investigator studying the early stress response (autophagy) during spinal cord injury, funded by a National Institutes of Health RO1 grant. He has written two dozen peer-reviewed articles and has been invited to speak at national and international conferences. He is currently an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
