Biosketch

Dr. Ehrenreich is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Combined Accelerated Program in Psychiatry (CAPP). He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Maryland Psychiatry residency program. After residency, he joined the University of Maryland faculty as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist. He served as the Director of the Consultation Liaison Division for 25 years and as such he expanded the service to include specialized consultation services to the organ transplant programs, the cancer center, the endocrinology clinic, a vocational rehabilitation service, an HIV mental health and substance abuse clinic, and a Medical Crisis Counseling Center. He has extensive experience in transplant psychiatry, including consultation to the liver, kidney, lung, heart, face, and bone marrow transplant programs. He is the founding program director of the Department’s Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship program. He has been the Program Director of the University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program since 2012 and the Chief of Education since 2014.  He was appointed Vice-Chair of Education for the Department of Psychiatry in 2024. He has been actively involved in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows for over 30 years. His interests include education, psychotherapy, and the psychiatric care of the medically ill.
