Biosketch

I conduct clinical research with patients suffering from major depressive disorder (MDD), particularly those who are dealing with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), also known as difficult-to-treat depression. TRD is a heterogenous disorder with individual patients showing substantial variability in response to different therapeutic interventions. In this context, my research focuses on precision psychiatry for TRD involving the performance of studies to identify clinical and biological variables (e.g., brain-based measures, peripheral measures) that allow us to match an individual patient with the most effective and least harmful treatment. My research vision is to reduce the gap between research and clinical practice by developing practical and clinician-friendly predictive tools that can be easily applied in real clinical settings.
