Biosketch
Dr. Closson is an attending physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital and an Instructor of Pediatrics within the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has served as the Pediatric Inpatient Unit Attending and is currently one of the Pediatric Clerkship Teaching Attendings. He is also currently the Medical Director of the Sexual Abuse & Rape Assessment team at the University of Maryland Medical Center and has given numerous presentations locally and regionally on the topic of child sexual abuse. Dr. Closson has also served as a member of the UMMS Child Protection team, the UMMC Code of Professional Conduct Committee, the UMMC Medical Executive Committee, the University of Maryland, School of Medicine Council, the Pediatric Clerkship Grading Committee, the Pediatric Education Committee Task Force and currently serves as the Site Director and Clinical Instructor for the Pediatric Emergency component of the Pediatric Clerkship and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Elective Rotation. Dr. Closson grew up nearby in Columbia, Maryland, then stayed locally for his undergraduate and medical school educations at the Johns Hopkins University and the Howard University College of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was the recipient of the Albert Einstein Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, Outstanding Student Teaching Award and the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award. Dr. Closson has been faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine since 2001.
