Biosketch
Dr. Chiappelli is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in treatment and research of severe mental illness, in particular schizophrenia. Since completing residency in psychiatry in 2012 he has been at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, first as a postdoctoral fellow then as assistant professor in the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. He also practices at the Fayette Adult Clinic of the Walter P. Carter Center and at the First Episode Clinic at MPRC. His research group has published extensively on the role of white matter structural abnormalities in schizophrenia, and the role of these white matter changes in cognitive deficits and treatment resistance.
