Peter Bowman graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2006 with his doctorate of physical therapy. He began his career as a physical therapist with Concentra Medical Centers (CMC) Pittsburgh, PA. After working as a staff therapist, he became a center therapy director at a multi physical therapist center from 2008- 2011. During this time, he enrolled in The Manual Therapy Institute’s manual orthopaedic physical therapy residency program based in Londonderry, NH.

Immediately following successful completion of the residency program, he completed his fellowship in manual orthopaedic therapy in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Bowman was recognized as a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2012. In 2011 while working at CMC, Dr. Bowman became the area therapy director of multiple locations in the Pittsburgh area until 2012. In 2012, he took a position as a multisite manager/ clinic director at Physio/ Select Medical.

During this time, he managed his own practice along with other locations in the northern Pittsburg area. He has been a mentor to over 50 DPT student/ interns from over 15 physical therapy schools located throughout the country. He volunteered his time to work as a teaching assistance with the Manual Therapy Institute and Mid-Atlantic Manual Therapy Consultants from 2013-2014. In 2014, he began mentoring fellows in training of manual orthopaedic physical therapy.

Dr. Bowman currently is the site therapy director of University of Maryland School of Medicine Practice at Camden Yards and teaches within the doctor of physical therapy program. He and his colleagues have recently been granted candidacy status for an Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy fellowship program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine Practice at Camden Yards. He and his colleagues are working on multiple METRC RCT studies to compare early versus delayed weight and to compare efficacy of usual care physical therapy with usual care physical therapy combined with blood flow restricted training (https://www.metrc.org/research), along with shoulder pain/ strength and patellofemoral pain. 

Dr. Bowman has always had a love of sports and physical activity since he was a kid. He first learned of physical therapy following sport injuries in high school. He was a division II collegiate swimming who earned all-conference honors. He is dedicated to helping others through their movement system, sports and improving the quality of life of each patient. He is very involved within his community volunteering as a coach for his kids. He has a love for education, manual therapy, strength/ rehabilitation, return to sport and running for any orthopaedic condition.
