Biosketch

Dr. Blanchard is Associate Professor of OBGyn; Vice-chair of the Department; Division Chief of General Obstetrics & Gynecology; and Director of the Residency Program in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences.  Dr. Blanchard received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University.  She completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Case Western Reserve University-MetroHealth/Cleveland Clinic. 

She served as the chair of the University of Maryland Medical System’s Obstetric Patient Safety Committee for twelve years, and sits on the State of Maryland Morbidity, Mortality, and Quality Review Committee. She is active in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and currently serves on the ACOG Board of Directors (BOD) as ACOG District IV Chair and chairs the ACOG District IV Executive Committee.  She was elected twice to the national ACOG Executive Board (now BOD), in 2005-2006 and 2009-2012.

An active participant on the Council on Residency Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG), she served on the CREOG Education committee 2009-2016 (Chair, 2013-2016).  Dr. Blanchard is a 15-year oral examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG) since 2008, and coordinated the ABOG Maintenance of Certification Part II Office Practice section.  Her areas of research and clinical interest involve the evaluation and care of patients with fibroids, residency education, and family planning.
