Biosketch

 Dr. Janyne Althaus is an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland. Her areas of clinical expertise include high-risk pregnancy conditions and caring for patients in lesser-served areas. Dr. Althaus earned her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University. She completed the M.D. program at the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, and performed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Johns Hopkins University where she served as the director for the Carlyle Crenshaw Perinatal Transport and David Nagey Outreach programs. 

In addition to caring for women with higher-risk pregnancies, Dr. Althaus has a special interest in bioethics. She has presented at multiple national conferences on a wide range of topics with particular interest in where abstract theory meets real-world situations. She is a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and American Society of Bioethics and Humanities.
