Biosketch

I received my medical degree from Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School. I completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology training and also got my PhD degree in Molecular Medicine in Istanbul. Furthermore, I worked as an endoscopic pelvic surgeon in Istanbul before moving to to London, UK and completing another fellowship under the supervision of Prof. Kypros Nicolaides on Fetal Medicine in Harris Birthright Research Center at King’s College Hospital. Subsequently, I joined the Division of Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Yale University where I worked on the prediction of preterm labor. Thereafter, I repeated my residency and fellowship training at the University of Maryland and  joined to the faculty here as the Director of Fetal Therapy and Complex Obstetric Surgery.

My clinical interests include all aspects of prenatal diagnosis and high-risk pregnancy. I developed a novel 2 & 3 dimensional ultrasound technique to predict preterm delivery. I have an extensive training on fetal interventions and also on complex obstetric surgeries. One of my passion is to identify abnormal placental development in-situ and prevent adverse fetal & maternal outcomes. My aim is to make University of Maryland one of the preeminent referral centers for Complex Obstetric Surgery by increasing the quality of patient care along with producing research and training new generations on Complex Obstetric Surgery.

Research/Clinical Keywords
