Dr. Liu is a recognized leader in physiological magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain, which aims to shed light on brain function and health beyond what is available through conventional anatomic MRI. She has two major lines of research. One area of emphasis is the development and application of MRI techniques for assessing brain perfusion and metabolism in neonates. The other area of Dr. Liu’s focus is the development of MRI techniques to measure vascular reserve in the brain. Her scholarship in these areas is evident in a number of highly cited publications.
Research/Clinical Keywords
neonatal physiological MRI; neonatal brain perfusion and metabolism; hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy; cerebrovascular reactivity
