Biosketch

Dr. Forrester is a graduate of the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. She completed her Psychiatry residency training as well as Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is board certified in the sub-specialty of Psychosomatic Medicine, renamed Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.  She serves as the Dept of Psychiatry Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and is the Chair of the Dept of Psychiatry Diversity Committee.

Dr. Forrester serves as the Director for the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical School of Medicine. She is also the coordinator of the Cultural Psychiatry resident course.

As Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Forrester provides strategic vision and leadership for all of the department’s diversity and inclusion activities and oversees the development and implementation of key goals related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Research Interests

Dr. Forrester's research interests include Women's Mental Health specifically, Perinatal Psychiatry as well as Psycho-Oncology and Cultural Competence in the medical setting. She is strongly committed to all levels of medical education as well as improving health equity, addressing systemic racism and bias in the medical system.

Dr. Forrester is trained as a Consultation-Liaison psychiatrist and works within that division.  She has served psychiatry liaison provider for the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation Service. She directs all of the structured educational activities for medical students, residents, and fellows on the C-L service.
