Pathologists’ Assistant Program
The Pathologists' Assistant Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
Medical Laboratory Sciences Program
The medical laboratory science profession integrates and applies concepts of biology, chemistry and medicine, providing both career flexibility and job security. Our program falls under the Department of Medical and Research Technology (DMRT).
Medical Students
Our department absolutely loves medical students. Warning: you may fall for us as well, and be transformed into a pathologist. Our enthusiasm is infectious.
Our incredibly talented Academic Manager, Katie Horton, has won national awards for her work with medical student engagement and pathology education.
Ongoing Activities in our Department
- Pathology Student Interest Group (PSIG): our chapter put the "Fun" in Wheater’s Functional Histology.
- Exploring Careers in Medicine (ECM): now featuring a scavenger hunt with QR codes! Widely acclaimed as a can’t-miss activity.
- History of Pathology: this has both tours and haunted tours, depending on how close to Halloween.
- Surgical Resident Bootcamp: for 4th-year students going into surgery; includes a choose your own adventure exercise.
