COIRI organizes educational training and mentorship opportunities and manages the financial and regulatory requirements for Center activities. COIRI leadership actively recruits, mentors, and integrates clinician-researchers into COIRI.

Methodologic

COIRI provides context-specific expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics, and patient engagement. COIRI teaches and mentors principles of research and best practices for clinical trial conduct and data collection, develops new ideas through research design consultations, and implements innovative study designs and state-of-the-art data analyses for research conducted by qualified COIRI users.

Large Trials Collaborations

COIRI leverages their international clinical trial network to engage successful participating sites for clinical trials. COIRI actively collaborates with METRC and McMaster University Center for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics to conduct large, multicenter clinical trials.

Dr. Robert O'Toole serves as the Clinical Chairman for the nationwide DOD-funded Major Extremity Trauma and Rehabilitation Consortium (METRC).

COIRI regularly collaborates with Dr. Sheila Sprague at the Center for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics with the Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University, a leading research center for conducting large-scale orthopaedic surgical trials.
