The University of Maryland's Occupational Health Clinic, a member of the Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics (AOEC), provides a comprehensive array of services for the injured or exposed worker. It is located in the University Faculty Practice Office at 419 W. Redwood Street.

The Occupational/Environmental Medicine Clinical Practice provides specialty consultation for patients with work or environmentally - related health conditions. Areas of clinical expertise include toxicology, heavy metals, respiratory conditions, workers’ compensation, fitness for duty and work disability evaluation. We provide occupational surveillance services for populations of workers a risk for specific exposures, including firefighters, healthcare workers, animal care workers and researchers with unusual work exposures. Our division faculty and staff have conducted research on the causes, risk factors, management and prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses, including musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory hazards, occupational cancer, adult lead exposure, and other heavy metal poisonings and exposures related to military service and firefighting. The division also develops educational programs for workers, unions, employers and other health care professionals in the community needing more information about occupational and environmental health concerns.

Employee Health Services

The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine provides employee health services for both Faculty Physicians, Inc. (FPI) and University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) employees.

FPI Services include pre-placement evaluations; infection prevention services including immunization; respirator clearance, training and fit-testing; bloodborne pathogen exposure management; fitness for duty evaluations and accommodations consultations.  The division FPI team members are:

UMB Services include lab animal allergy evaluation and monitoring; consultation on workplace exposures; respirator medical clearance; and program management consultation. Our division faculty are working closely with the UMB Public and Occupational Health Office to implement a full-service campus employee health program.
