Hospitalist & General Internal Medicine
Open Faculty Positions
Clinician Educator (3-309-1203)
The Division of Hospitalist and General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time outpatient general internist for our growing practice. Clinical responsibilities include participation in our faculty group practice with eleven other internists, medical student teaching, and supervision of residents in the outpatient setting. This position will be responsible for increasing access to primary care. This position will continue the expansion of our practice into Baltimore County. We plan for this position to spend 75% of their clinical practice time in our Owings Mills location, a new area of primary care presence for UMSOM. The remainder of their clinical time will be spent in our Baltimore City location. Additionally, our success in the Maryland Primary Care Program (MDPCP) also hinges on efficient and timely transitional follow up for patients recently seen in the ED or discharged from the hospital. This position will help continue to expand transition of care services from the hospital to outpatient, further increasing outpatient volumes, access, and chronic disease management. In addition to offering in-person appointments in Baltimore city and Baltimore County we will also leverage our telemedicine platform to increase access to care for our patients. The candidate will also assist with training and co-management of patients with residents in our outpatient clinic in Baltimore City.
Expected faculty rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license in the State of Maryland. This position requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting.
