Division of Hospitalist & General Internal Medicine
Welcome to the Division of Hospitalist & General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine
Our physicians engage in innovative clinical, educational, and research programs across the University of Maryland, Baltimore, campus, and with our affiliated partners.
We strive to provide compassionate, high-value care to our patients, deliver a top-notch education to the next generation of physicians, and participate in state-of-the art research.
Education
Education of medical students and residents remains a core focus of our division. Our residency program is comprised of over 150 residents in the areas of Internal Medicine, Med-Peds, EMIM, and various preliminary programs.
Hospitalist Program
Our GIM hospitalist group is comprised of approximately 30 physicians and 5 physician assistants who provide direct patient care over seven dedicated services. Through four of these services, we directly supervise our medicine house staff and students in the care of a diverse patient population from a large catchment area.
Ambulatory Program
Our ambulatory practice is comprised of 10 attending physicians who provide primary care and preventative health services to the citizens of Baltimore and the surrounding community via the Faculty Practice Office (FPO) and University Health Center (UHC).
Research and PSQI
Beyond our educational and clinical programs, our division remains active in clinical research. Federally-funded projects focus on high-value primary care, health-information technology applications in chronic disease management, and clinical epidemiology of chronic kidney disease.
