Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine is focused on cutting-edge research into the causes and treatments of diseases of the airway and lungs such as asthma and COPD.

That research is implemented at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), giving hope and often improved outcomes to critically ill patients, such as those in the Lung Transplant Program.

We also oversee a Sleep Disorders Center, which offers treatment for a variety of sleep problems, including narcolepsy and sleep apnea.

Research

Our research delves into the causes and treatments of diseases of the airway and lungs, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), asthma, and much more.
