UM School of Medicine License Plates

Show your pride in the University of Maryland School of Medicine by displaying these special license plates!

Each set of School of Medicine license plates will cost $25.00.

Steps to receiving your SOM license plates:

1. Download, complete and print the MVA Organizational License Plate application
2. Scan and email the completed application to cshelton@som.umaryland.edu
3. The application will be signed and then emailed back to you.
4. Submit the completed and signed application along with a check for the $25 fee payable to the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). Please reference the number of the current license plate in the memo portion of the check.
5. Applications may be submitted to the Glen Burnie Full Service MVA location by mail or in person.

Please Note:

• If you lease your car, your name and the leasing company's name must appear on your registration. This enables you to transfer your SOM plates to other vehicles you may own in the future.
• Your home address must also be listed in the “care of” section on your registration. All SOM license plate numbers begin with the letters “SOM” followed by a four-digit number. For example, license plate numbers will read “SOM0001” 
• Along with your new UMSOM plates, you will receive replacement registration stickers. Once you receive your new set of plates, you must return your old set of ‌plates to the MVA. You may either drop them off at any MVA office or mail them to the following address:
