The Clinical High Risk for Psychosis (CHiRP) program is a SAMHSA funded research clinic for youth and is in collaboration with University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), and the Maryland Early Intervention Program (MEIP). The National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH), housed within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is nationally recognized as having a leading interprofessional training program in school mental health for psychology, social work, counseling, and psychiatry trainees.

UMB is the only APA-accredited psychology internship that offers comprehensive major rotation experiences in school mental health practice, research, and policy, all with a goal of preparing scientist-practitioners to work with vulnerable and underserved populations in schools. The Child Inpatient and Pediatric Consult-Liaison Track at the UM School of Medicine consists of major rotations in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, the Pediatric Consult-Liaison Program, and the Maryland Psychological Assessment and Consultation Center (MPACC). Patients seen during these rotations include children from birth to age 18 and their families. The Inpatient Unit is a state-of-the-art facility recently remodeled as a trauma-informed space (one of the first in the country) with nature themes and imagery that provide comforting and calming qualities to support the healing process. The Child Outpatient and Pediatric Consult-Liaison Track at the UM School of Medicine consists of major rotations in the Taghi Modarressi Center for Infant Study/Secure Starts (CIS), with a focus on children from birth to age 6, the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinics, and the Pediatric Consult-Liaison Program, as well as the Maryland Psychological Assessment and Consultation Center (MPACC), which services children from birth to age 18 and their families. In addition to patient care, the CIS and Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinics promotes and supports training, policy, and research in the field of infant and early childhood mental health.
