Research Offices & Policies

Office of Research Affairs (ORA)

The ORA supports UMSOM research by providing guidance on research conduct and compliance, conflicts of interest, foreign influences, required training, training grants, and data protection, management and sharing. The ORA serves as a research hub to assist faculty in expanding collaborative, innovative research that will lead to an increased number of novel competitive grant applications to a variety of funding agencies. ORA staff provide a wide range of services to SOM faculty, including reviewing and managing the pre-award process; streamlining the grant application and regulatory compliance processes; identifying and notifying departments and faculty members about funding opportunities; assisting with limited grant submissions and university funded award programs; and providing assistance in acquiring letters of support, assembling and proofreading proposals for large/complex, multi-PI grant applications.
