I hope everyone had a safe and restful holiday. We at CARTI have been hard at work closing out the last academic year and planning for the fall.
We had a great year at CARTI and were able to begin formally celebrating those who have successfully garnered federal funding after completing CARTI training. While we haven’t celebrated everyone yet--promise to do so moving forward--we recognized nine faculty members across four schools and the VA this past May. Congratulations to everyone who has worked so hard and seen their efforts pay off!
We also hosted
our first CARTI Distinguished Research Lecturer, Professor Dennis Lo, who gave a truly inspirational presentation in May. Professor Lo shared with us the challenges and successes he has experienced in his career thus far, from his early days in the lab as a medical student, to receiving the 2022 Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award.
In June, we celebrated the completion of our second CARTI Clinical/Public Health Training Track cohort with
eight amazing scholars. We had a fulfilling year and hope you did as well.
Looking forward we are launching exciting new programming, including our
CARTI Basic Science Training Track, for which applications are due Friday, July 26. We have also been working on developing a new tool to help early-career faculty identify suitable research mentors and hope to launch that in the upcoming year, so please stay tuned.
Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to sharing our upcoming programming with you in this updated format!
