Postdoctoral Position in Muscle Biology

Position Description: Positions are available in the Muscle Biology program, which offers interdisciplinary training in muscle biology for predoctoral and postdoctoral students. The structure, function, development and plasticity of skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscle will be considered on the molecular, subcellular, cellular, tissue and organ levels. Reflecting the diversity of backgrounds of our 18 nationally and internationally recognized faculty, the training offered ranges from the molecular biological determinants of muscle development and molecular aspects of structure and function of muscle proteins through cell biological aspects of muscle cytoskeleton and matrix, biophysical and physiological analysis of individual muscle cell function, and biomechanical properties of whole muscles and muscular organs.

Position Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or comparable degree. NIH (NIAMS) Training Grant funded positions are restricted to US citizens and permanent residents. Support for non-residents may be available from other funding.

Contact: Postdoctoral applicants should e-mail their letter of interest, curriculum vitae and list of references to Dr. Aikaterini Kontrogianni-Konstantopoulos, Director of the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Muscle Biology (AKontrogianni@som.umaryland.edu)

Postdoctoral T32 Training Program in Cancer Biology

Position Description: The T32 Training Program in Cancer Biology at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) is a multidisciplinary fellowship training program supported by the NIH (T32CA) that focuses on basic and translational cancer research with the ultimate goal of enhancing clinical oncology. The training program provides cross-disciplinary, mentored research training in cancer, and supports overall professional development through seminars, journal clubs, workshops, and career development. Clinical and basic research is conducted in several laboratories within UMGCCC. An overview of UMGCCC's extensive research programs can be found on the Research Programs page. The program is well-suited to individuals who are highly motivated to seek broader training in addition to the traditional single lab-focused postdoctoral experience.

Position Qualifications: The T32 training program provides a competitive stipend commensurate with qualifications, travel, health insurance, and tuition remission. Appointments to the training grant will be for two years, with the possibility of an extension for another year depending on productivity; support for additional years may be available from the primary research mentor’s grants.

Contact: Postdoctoral applicants should send or email a letter of intent and Curriculum Vitae to:
