Katelyn Scharf, MD (CA 3 resident) was awarded the Gertie Marx Competition Award for her project title “Fetal Delivery During Maternal Mechanical Ventilation for Severe COVID-19. The Relationship of Maternal PaO2, PaCO2 and Acid-Base Status on Neonatal Outcome” at the 2022 Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology (SOAP) conference. The Gertie Marx Research Competition, named in honor of one of the pioneers of obstetric anesthesia, is SOAP's preeminent forum for the presentation of research by members in training, residents, and fellows worldwide. The competition includes recognition and cash awards for presentations most highly judged by an international panel of scholars. Dr. Bhavani Shankar Kodali, MBBS, MD, Professor stated “Her presentation was flawless, and she handled the questions exceptionally thoughtfully” and received excellent feedback from senior faculty members.
