Appointment, Promotion and Tenure of Faculty (APT) Committee

The Medicine Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (APT) Committee is a vital part of the Department of Medicine’s goal of fostering professional growth among our faculty. This committee performs detailed reviews of nominee credentials, providing essential advice to the Chair regarding each candidate’s suitability for promotion and/or tenure.

Committee members are selected specifically to provide a diverse group of clinician educators and scientific investigators reflective of the variety of individuals and disciplines within the Department of Medicine.

Faculty are strongly encouraged to attend a promotion preparation workshop lead by the UMSOM Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development early in their careers.  This training is specifically designed to help candidates prepare required teaching and clinical (if applicable) portfolios for the promotion process.  To find available dates, please go to the SOM Calendar and type “Preparing for Promotion” in the site search box.  Pre-registration is required for this course.
