- Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers In Women's Health (BIRCWH) Program
Funded by the Office for Research on Women's Health at the NIH, the BIRCWH program at the University of Maryland provides critical support to early career investigators conducting research in women's health. The program is not currently accepting applications.
- Clinical and Translational Research Training
This program supports focused clinical research training centered on an MS in Clinical Research, a Certificate in Clinical Research as well as a series of short courses open to all investigators at the University of Maryland. A Certificate Program in Translational Research is currently under development.
- Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Career Development Program
The Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Career Development Program, funded by the NIH Roadmap Initiative, supports the early career development of Clinical Research Scholars in all types of clinical research, including patient-oriented research, translational research, small and large-scale clinical investigation and trials and epidemiologic studies. It will prepare scientists from a broad range of disciplines for independent careers in clinical research.
- Paul Calabresi Clinical Oncology Training Program
The Paul Calabresi Clinical Oncology Training Program, funded by the National Cancer Institute, supports tomorrow's leaders in clinical oncology research through the appointment of Scholars following a competitive applicatin process. The award is named for the late Paul Calabresi, MD, a founder of modern clinical oncology reserach, who was devoted to the mentoring of fellows and junior faculty. The program focuses on three thematic areas of research: Multimodality Treatment Strategies for Cancer; Drug Discovery and Development; and Underserved Populations & Cancer Treatment Disparities.
- Office of Research Career Development
The Office of Research Career Development, directed by Assistant Dean for Research Career Development Wendy Sanders, provides trainings, workshops and grant funding consultation services.
- Women in Medicine and Science
The mission of the WIMS group at the University of Maryland is to recruit, retain and promote women in academic medicine and science. The UM BIRCWH program often co-sponsors speakers and networking events with WIMS.
