I am currently directly involved in offering our pediatric hematology/oncology patients the most effective treatments for their disease. I have been an attending physician at the University of Maryland School of Medicine for approximately 12 years.  I am honored to participate as the principal investigator for our institution and offer cooperative group studies to our pediatric oncology patients while minimizing pain and suffering for our patients, families and caregivers.

My involvement as the principal investigator in these studies is to assist with the development and submission of these studies to the Institutional Review Board process at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. I will also help identify individuals to participate in clinical research studies and assist in explaining to patients and families what participation in these studies entail as part of the informed consent process.  I will also accept responsibility for being directly available for questions or concerns as pertains to these studies for patients, families and caregivers.  I am also directly involved in the implementation of all of the services involved in care of these patients in addition to monitoring for patient safety and proper schedule, dosing, toxicity monitoring etc as pertains to these patients’ receiving care at our institution.  I look forward to participating in these studies and we are committed as a team for our success so that we as healthcare professionals can obtain more knowledge and information on how to best help patients, families and caregivers cope with their illness and the pain and suffering it brings.
