Altruism
I will serve the interests and welfare of the patient and the community above my own self-interest.
I will be guided by objectivity in the service of patient and community care.
Accountability
I will set patient care as my highest priority in the clinical setting.
I will recognize my knowledge and skill limitations by seeking help when these limitations may compromise patient and/or community care.
I will not refer to myself, or hold myself, to be more qualified than I am.
I will practice the highest level of ethics in my roles as learner, researcher and caregiver.
I will recognize my limitations in ethical conflict situations by seeking expert help.
I will accurately record all individual patient data and other data pertinent to the care of the patient.
I will accurately record all community data pertinent to the care of the patient.
I will conduct research in an unbiased manner, reporting results accurately and crediting contributions of others to the research.
I will maintain the highest standards of academic honesty.
I will not give or receive aid in examinations, unless otherwise authorized.
I will regard confidentiality as a central obligation of patient care.
I will limit discussions of patients to members of the health care team in appropriate settings.

I will conduct myself professionally in all health care settings, being mindful of appropriate language, demeanour and appearance.
I will not use alcohol or drugs that incur risks to my academic, professional, clinical and community responsibilities.
I will not impugn the reputation of my peers, teachers or health professional colleagues.
I will report unprofessional conduct to the proper authorities.

I will treat my patients and their families with respect, empathy, compassion and dignity both in their presence and in discussions with other members of the health care team.
I will not discriminate, in patient or community care, on grounds of age, gender, intelligence, medical condition, national or ethnic origin, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation or socio-economic status.
I will communicate in a considerate manner with other health care professionals.
I will treat my teachers, colleagues, and peers with respect, trust and dignity.
I will not engage in unwanted or inappropriate romantic or sexual behaviours with my patients, teachers, colleagues or peers.
I will follow the hospital and ethical procedures when seeking patient consent for investigation or treatment.
I will follow the hospital and/or community procedures when seeking subject consent for research.
