The University of Maryland School of Medicine is on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), located on the west side of downtown Baltimore. UMB consists of six other professional schools, including the Graduate School, and the schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Social Work and Law.

Physicians, scientists, medical students and graduate students work side by side in state of-the-art-facilities, including, Health Sciences Facility I, Health Sciences Facility II, and the UMB BioPark. Research is conducted and classes are held in several buildings, including the Bressler Research Building, Howard Hall and the Medical School Teaching Facility (MSTF).

The School of Medicine is connected to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), where faculty members treat patients. In addition, there are clinical practices for just about every specialty located on or near campus. UMMC and VAMC also offer many clinical opportunities for students.
