The mission of the Department of Pathology is to increase the knowledge and understanding of disease process mechanisms. Through our focus in the key areas of cancer, infectious disease, neuropathology, new prognostic and diagnostic tools, immunology, genomics, tumor biology, animal models, and biodefense, we maximize our research efforts by encouraging both independent and collaborative research opportunities. We remain dedicated in our pursuit.
Due to the translational nature of the science, the study of pathology allows us to bridge the gap between pure research and clinical application. We excel in patient care. Our unique blend of theoretical and applied knowledge enables us to provide cutting-edge training to students pursuing careers as independent biomedical researchers, physicians, allied health professionals and other pathology-related disciplines.
