Description and Goals:
The student serves as a Junior House Officer on an Organ Transplant Service. The base of clinical material consists of patients having kidney, pancreas and liver transplantation, but also includes the selection of such patients for transplantation, organ harvesting and basic principles in immunosuppression. The goal is a development of proficiency in understanding how patients are selected, immune profiles are matched, and the critical parameters of the host defense system.
