School Closing & Inclement Weather Policy

Official policies regarding the UMB campus come from the President’s Office and can be found here http://www.umaryland.edu/alerts/. If you signed up for phone alerts, you will receive notifications regarding any campus closings or delays on your cell phone. Any campus closings or delays are immediately applicable to year 1 and year 2 students only. In case of such an event, the course masters will be in touch about plans to cover the material/exam in alternative ways/days/times. Clinical students should make every effort to report to their assignments regardless of campus changes if they can do so safely in their own personal judgment. If you are unable to make it to your assigned site safely because of the weather, please inform your team, course or clerkship director and the Dean of Student Affairs. If you are on an outpatient or elective rotation, be in touch with whomever is in charge to assure that they plan to function as usual despite the weather before venturing in. If the campus is open and you are unable to reach your site, you may be required to make-up missed days. If the campus is closed or delayed in opening, students will not be required to make up missed days or time during which the campus was closed.
