Vascular/Interventional Radiology - RADL 551

Completion of the Internal Medicine, Surgery, and OB-Gyn clerkship

Description and Goals:

To provide the student with detailed exposure and training in the field of vascular and interventional radiology.  The student will become an integral part of the clinical evaluation and treatment of inpatients and outpatients treated with the minimally invasive techniques of interventional radiology.  They will participate in the workup of patients, the actual procedures, and patient aftercare.  Students will be offered opportunities for clinical research projects.  The range of diseases treated span peripheral and renovascular disease, venous disease, interventional oncology and regional therapy of cancer, biliary disease, gynecologic interventions and uterine fibroid embolization, end stage renal disease, etc.  Close supervision is provided by the attending staff and fellows.  Section conferences include case reviews and didactic sessions.  This elective may be arranged as a preceptorship with an individual attending staff within the division, as well.
