Diagnostic Neuroradiology - RADL 549

Prerequisites:

Any of the following:

  • RADL 540-01 Basic Radiology Course
  • Neurosurgery 2-week surgical subspecialty
  • Neurology clerkship
  • Otolaryngology 2-week surgical subspecialty

Description and Goals:

The students are expected to attend interdisciplinary conferences and tumor boards with neurology, otolaryngology, neurosurgery and oncology. The Division of Diagnostic Neuroradiology offers an elective rotation for senior medical students which is intended to provide interested individuals with the opportunity to gain additional experience with brain, spine, and head and neck imaging. This includes training in the interpretation of Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging including advanced imaging techniques.

The student will get a broad exposure to state-of-the-art technology and learn about a dynamic new array of treatment opportunities for vascular diseases that affect the neuroaxis. An additional elective is offered in Interventional Neuroradiology.

Attendance is mandatory, with 3 allowed absences. This elective is well suited to those students interested in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Otolaryngology in addition to those seeking additional subspecialty Diagnostic Radiology electives.
