Pediatric Nephrology - PEDI 559

Prerequisites:

Third Year Pediatrics, Internal Medicine

UMMS, North Hospital 5th floor

Description and Goals:

In this rotation students will participate in the care of inpatients with renal diseases and perform inpatient consultations. Students will participate in the outpatient assessment and management of dialysis and transplant patients as well as patients with more common renal diseases and hypertension. They will become familiar with common renal problems of infants, children, and adolescents, and the approach to the work-up and treatment of those conditions. Fluid and electrolyte management of pediatric patients and clinical reasoning skills will also be stressed.

Days 8am - 5pm; no nights or weekends
