Family/Community Medicine: Ambulatory - FAPH 541

Prerequisites:

Students must be in good academic standing and have completed the Family Medicine Clerkship.

Location:

University of Maryland, Dept of Family & Community Medicine; 29 South Paca Street; Baltimore, MD 21201
Other sites could include select community family medicine private offices.

Description and Goals:

This four week elective aims to enhance ambulatory clinical skills within the scope of family medicine, and to develop an understanding and appreciation for the continuity and coordination of care in the primary care setting.   .

Goals:

  1. Receive in depth training and experience in seeing a broad breadth of patients commonly seen in family medicine.
  2. Develop a greater appreciation for the ways in which a family physician can help his/her community.
  3. Gain a greater appreciation of the versatile ways in which family physicians practice medicine.
  4. Experience the practice of family medicine under the tutelage of community physician leaders who manage busy practices with high expertise.

Receive didactic instruction at departmental learning activities, including morning report sessions and Grand Rounds.
